The Transylvania Textile & Fashion Professional Association, in partnership with the Department for Sustainable Development, organizes on Wednesday at Baile Tusnad the event "EcoTexHoReCa: Expo and Conference for Sustainable Textiles in the Hospitality Industry" exploring and promoting sustainable practices in the HoReCa sector, with a focus on the reuse of textiles and the promotion of the circular economy.
According to organisers, delivering the keynote speech will be Laszlo Borbely, coordinator of the Department for Sustainable Development, the body that coordinates the implementation of the Romania's circular economy national strategy and action plan.
"The purpose of the event is to organise a meeting for professionals in the hospitality industry and sustainability experts to debate and share innovative solutions in the reuse of textiles used in this industry. The project promotes the circular economy, with the objective of reducing textile waste and extending the life of products."
Part of the event is an exhibition that will showcase hotel rooms fully equipped with reused textiles, offering concrete examples of good practices in the use of sustainable materials, and also a conference that will bring together experts and representatives from the hospitality and textile industry, who will discuss the challenges and opportunities in this sector.
Attending the event will be national and international professionals from the hospitality industry, hotel and restaurant managers, educational institutions, non-governmental organisations, researchers and specialists in sustainable textiles.
"The context in which the event takes place is determined by the negative impact of the textile industry on the environment, combined with the urgent need for sustainable practices in the HoReCa sector, which uses a large amount of textiles. This event comes to offer practical solutions for reducing textile waste and for a more efficient management of resources in this sector," the organisers also said.
