President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday promulgated a law approving Government Emergency Ordinance (OUG) 101/2024 amending and supplementing OUG 64/2007 on public debt, which regulates the identification and diversification of financing instruments for the acquisition of military equipment.
The new piece of legislation amends the public deb emergency ordinance to allow government to sign the financing agreement with the US Government to access funds under Foreign Military Financing, with an impact on the costs of procurement contracts already concluded by the Defence Ministry.
The law also includes provisions regarding borrowing funds on the domestic market through government bonds dedicated to the population distributed by the National Romanian Post Company (CNPR).
