BNR's foreign exchange reserves down 4.8bn euro to 60.06bn euro on 30 September 2026

The National Bank of Romania's (BNR) foreign exchange reserves stood at 60.060 billion euro on 30 September 2026, down by 4.805 billion euro from 64.865 billion euro recorded at 31 August 2026, according to data published by the central bank.

During the month, inflows amounted to 3.302 billion euro, representing changes in credit institutions' foreign currency-denominated required reserves with the BNR, funds deposited into the Finance Ministry's accounts and other inflows, agerpres reports.

There were also outflows of 8.107 billion euro, representing changes in credit institutions' foreign currency-denominated required reserves with the BNR, interest payments and principal repayments on foreign currency public debt (approximately 2.684 billion euro), payments from the European Commission's account and other outflows.

The gold stock remained steady at 103.6 tonnes. In line with international price developments, its value stood at 12.280 billion euro.

Romania's international reserves (foreign currency and gold) stood at 72.340 billion euro on 30 September 2026, compared with 77.627 billion euro on 31 August 2026.

During October 2026, the payments due on the foreign currency-denominated public and publicly guaranteed debt amount to approximately 350 million euro
