The authorities and society have the duty to ensure that the Brancusi heritage and all the other values that define us as a people are protected for the enjoyment of future generations, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said in a message on Constantin Brancusi National Day.
"Romania dedicates this day to Constantin Brancusi, the Romanian who, through his craftsmanship and artistic vision, revolutionized universal sculpture, earning a well-deserved place among the greatest plastic artists of the last century and the appreciation of art lovers everywhere. Exhibited in the great museums of the world and, some of them, included on the world cultural heritage list, Constantin Brancusi's works reflect through their symbolism the depth and the beauty of Romanian culture and art. To value this cultural heritage properly and to respect all the indisputable heritage values means taking care of our national identity. It is our duty to watch together, authorities and society, and to make sure that the Brancusi heritage and all the other values that define us as people to be protected for the enjoyment of future generations," stated Marcel Ciolacu.
The Prime Minister pointed out the need to strengthen the legislation, in order to ensure at all times the conditions of safety and protection of the heritage pieces.
"The regrettable event that happened recently, in which extremely valuable pieces of the Dacian treasure were stolen, highlighted the need for the continuous strengthening of the legislation, so that we can ensure the safety and protection conditions of the heritage pieces at any time. Therefore, I consider any contribution or proposal in this regard from the competent authorities and specialists in the field to be welcome," Ciolacu pointed out.
"Our concern and involvement prove the fact that art and national heritage are part of the heritage of the Romanian people," concluded the Prime Minister.
