The National Youth Conference on Climate Change will take place in Bucharest on Tuesday and Wednesday, during which the National Youth Agenda on Climate Change 2026-2030 will be launched.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the document is the result of a consultation and youth engagement process carried out in Romania between 2024 and 2026. It aims to highlight the priorities, solutions and proposals put forward by more than 1,750 young people for Romania's climate future.
The two-day conference, which will take place at the Palace of Parliament and UN House, will bring together young people, representatives of public authorities, non-governmental organisations, experts, researchers, private sector representatives and civil society organisations for discussions on climate governance, environmental policies, civic participation and the role of young people in decision-making processes.
On Tuesday, the session titled Vision and Decisions for the Climate Future' will focus on Romania's environmental priorities and dialogue between young people and decision-makers. Those expected to attend include representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, the Prime Minister's Chancellery, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNICEF in Romania. The day will continue with panel discussions on climate governance, local and national engagement, as well as meetings with experts in sustainability-related areas.
Wednesday will be dedicated to civic participation and the tools through which young people can become involved in public environmental decision-making.
The programme will also include dialogue sessions between young people and decision-makers, discussions on the involvement of Romanian youth in climate governance at European and international level, and practical workshops on civic participation and climate advocacy.
Through the launch of the National Youth Agenda on Climate Change 2026-2030, young people aim to turn the priorities identified during the consultations into a framework for dialogue and action over the coming years, the press release also states.
The event is organised in Romania by the Youth Platform for Sustainability, together with the Pentru TINEri' civic initiative, with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, the Chamber of Deputies, through its Committee on Education, the European Climate Pact in Romania and UNICEF in Romania. It is held under the auspices of YOUNGO, the official children and youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
