The Chief of the Defense Staff (SMap), General Gheorghita Vlad, and the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, visited, on Friday, the Multinational Corps South-East Command (HQ MNC-SE) in Sibiu and the "Getica" National Joint Training Center in Cincu.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Defense sent to AGERPRES on Friday in Sibiu, the two military leaders were informed about the role of HQ MNC-SE in the planning and coordination of NATO operations on the Eastern Flank, and subsequently, they met with students and teachers from the "Nicolae Balcescu" Land Forces Academy, in which they addressed topics related to military leadership, the transformation of the armed forces and the future of war.
The visit continued at the "Getica" National Joint Training Center in Cincu, where the head of the SMap and the chairman of the NATO Military Committee witnessed demonstration sequences carried out by Romanian and allied military personnel from the NATO Battle Group deployed in Romania, the cited source mentions, adding that the activities included presentations on joint and multinational training, the integration of allied structures into NATO command and control systems, as well as live-fire demonstrations performed with CAESAR artillery systems and capabilities designed to combat aerial threats and unmanned systems.
"What we see today at Cincu represents exactly the direction in which NATO must evolve: prepared, interoperable forces capable of acting together in a complex operational environment. Romania is constantly investing in training, in the modernization of capabilities and in the consolidation of cooperation with its allies, and this is directly reflected in the level of training of our troops," said the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad, quoted in the press release.
The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee visited Romania on Thursday and Friday, at the invitation of the Chief of the Defense Staff, the Ministry of Defense informs.
