The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) has selected the winner of the contract for the feasibility study of the new Giurgiu-Ruse cross-border bridge over the Danube, a contract worth 50.04 million lei excluding VAT, the company's Director General, Cristian Pistol, announced on Wednesday.
According to him, the tender was won by Egis Romania SA, which will have 23 months from the signing of the contract to prepare the feasibility study.
"A designer has been selected for the second bridge at Giurgiu over the Danube. Today, the CNAIR announced the result of the procurement procedure for the contract to prepare the Feasibility Study for the new cross-border bridge between Romania and Bulgaria," Cristian Pistol wrote on his Facebook page.
The head of CNAIR mentioned that the project is financed through non-repayable European funds under the CEF2 - Connecting Europe Facility programme.
"The Giurgiu-Ruse 2 Bridge will have a dual civil and military role and will provide a connection between Romania and Bulgaria for both road and rail transport. The contract can be signed in 10 days' time, provided no appeals are lodged," Pistol also wrote.
