The reform of special pensions, elimination of undeserved privileges, equal treatment before the law, Romania's accession to the OECD, and curbing budgetary waste through restructuring state-owned companies, reducing administrative costs, and limiting unjustified benefits are among the action lines of the future Government.
According to the Political Agreement signed on Monday, in order to implement the governance programme, the Coalition will support the following directions:
*Urgent adoption of a credible plan to reduce the budget deficit;
*Curbing budget waste by restructuring state-owned enterprises, reducing administrative expenses, and limiting unjustified benefits;
*Fiscal reform, including the elimination of exceptions and improved tax collection efficiency;
*Prioritisation of investments in major infrastructure projects and local communities, ensuring realistic and efficient resource allocation;
*Reform of special pensions;
*Setting measurable and assessable objectives for each ministry and agency;
*Merging redundant institutions and reducing bureaucracy;
*Accelerating EU fund absorption through public management reforms;
*Promoting an institutional culture based on accountability, professionalism, and results;
*Modernising public services to respond to real citizen needs;
*Elimination of undeserved privileges and ensuring equal treatment before the law;
*Achieving energy independence in natural gas and speeding up the transition to renewable energy;
*Joining the OECD;
*Efficiency and performance in education, with European teaching standards, appropriately sized scholarships, and improved school performance;
*Expanding the base of contributors to CNAS (National Health Insurance House) and offering better healthcare services through efficient fund use;
*Administrative reform through digitisation, interconnection of public services, and the implementation of efficiency, simplification, and deregulation criteria;
*Decentralisation and increasing the efficiency of local public administration, based on the principle of subsidiarity;
*Digitisation and improvement of consular services, including expansion of mobile consulate networks;
*Improving the quality and efficiency of the justice system and public trust in it;
*Fulfilment of milestones and access to European funds under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR);
*Completion of fast road links between the Black Sea and Central Europe, and of the first mountain motorway crossing the Carpathians;
*Strengthening the transatlantic partnership and other strategic partnerships;
*Implementation of the Romanian Army 2040 Programme and the multiannual procurement plan for military equipment;
*Combatting crime, especially drug and human trafficking, along with rehabilitation and victim protection programmes;
*Tackling extremism, antisemitism, xenophobia, radicalisation, violence against women, and hate speech to ensure citizens' safety;
*Promoting and supporting programmes, projects, and legislation aimed at preserving the identity and development of national minority communities;
*Recognising and supporting the Romanian diaspora as an essential part of national identity and harnessing its human, economic, and cultural potential through active policies encouraging recognition and voluntary return;
*Encouraging birth rates and supporting families with children;
*Supporting economic measures to reduce the trade deficit;
*Promoting sports as essential for a healthy life, encouraging both mass and elite sports;
*Stimulating the economy and reducing territorial inequalities;
*An honest partnership with the private sector to develop a healthy economy based on private initiative, innovation, respect for honest work, dignity of workers, and encouraging legal employment;
*Reforming environmental control and regulatory authorities; improving quality of life in all towns and villages through regulatory mechanisms and green infrastructure development;
*Supporting the Republic of Moldova to accelerate and maintain its European path and strengthen its democratic values and economic, social, and cultural systems towards EU integration.
The Political Agreement was signed on Monday morning by the leaders of Social Democratic Party (PSD), the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) and the Save Romania Union (USR) and the Group of National Minorities.
