The Port of Constanta is consolidating its position as a regional logistics hub by completing the extension of the road adjacent to the southern pier and starting overhaul repairs to the overpass at Piers 3, 4 and 5, announced the Minister of Transport, Ciprian Serban.
"Today I visited the Port of Constanta, together with Horatiu Cosma, State Secretary in charge of the naval sector, and Mihai Teodorescu, General Director of the Port of Constanta, to check the status of some modernization works. The Port of Constanta is consolidating its position as a regional logistics hub by completing the extension of the road adjacent to the southern pier and starting overhaul repairs to the overpass at Piers 3, 4 and 5. These investments, fully financed from the funds of the National Company Administration of Maritime Ports Constanta, bring a new breath of life to the port infrastructure," the relevant minister wrote on his Facebook account.
The road, extended by 1.7 km, with an additional 4.5-meter lane, facilitates smooth access through Gate 14, using four traffic lanes. Completed in 10 months by the Heilbronn Produkt Ltd - Building Design 2000 Top Ltd association, the work, worth over 4 million lei, reduces congestion and increases the safety of port traffic, Serban said.
Also, major repair work is beginning on the overpass at Piers 3, 4 and 5, a project whose value exceeds 37 million lei.
"This passage, built in 1984, is entering an extensive rehabilitation process, essentially after decades of intense exploitation. The project of over 37 million lei, carried out by the Heilbronn Produkt Ltd - SC G&M Road Building Engineering Ltd Association, will extend the lifespan of the construction, ensuring safe and comfortable traffic over the railway lines and roads in the pier area. These initiatives reflect the commitment of the Port of Constanta for a modern infrastructure, which supports the economic development and connectivity of the region", the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure also pointed out.
