The delegation of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) is holding talks on Monday at Cotroceni Palace with President Nicusor Dan, as part of the consultations initiated with parliamentary parties and political groups to designate a candidate for the office of Prime Minister.
The AUR delegation is led by the party's First Vice-President, Dan Dungaciu, and also includes Gianina Serban and Laurentiu PlaesuVice-Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, respectivelyas well as parliamentary group leaders Mihai Enache and Petrisor Peiu.
Dungaciu told AGERPRES that the party's president, George Simion, will not participate in this round of consultations on the designation of a prime minister because he is engaged in "other activities."
Previously, the President held discussions with PSD representatives, and meetings are set to follow with representatives of the PNL, USR, and UDMR, the National Minorities parliamentary group, MPs from the S.O.S. Romania Party and the Young People's Party, the "United for Romania" parliamentary group, and the PACE - Romania First parliamentary group, as well as unaffiliated MPs.
The new consultations are taking place against the backdrop of last week's failure by Liberal Siegfried Muresanthe third prime minister-designate in the past five monthsto secure the Parliament's vote of investiture.
