The Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) on Tuesday approved the appointment of Major general engineer Ionel-Sorinel Vasilca as head of the Special Telecommunication Services (STS), according to a release of the Presidential Administration.
"The President made the proposal to the Council which approved the discharge of Mr General Marcel Opris, the former head of the Service, and of Mr Major general Ioan Balure, the deputy head. Moreover, upon the proposal of President Klaus Iohannis, the CSAT also approved the appointment of Mr Major general engineer Ionel-Sorinel Vasilca as the new head," said the release.
According to the abovementioned source, Major general engineer Vasilca graduated the military high-school and then the Military Technical Academy, with his entire career as engineer officer having been dedicated to the Special Telecommunications Service, while he went through all the stages of the professional and military evolution. Up to now, he held the office of technical deputy manager of the STS.
On July 26, President Klaus Iohannis signed the decree on discharging from the military General Marcel Opris, the head of the Special Telecommunications Service. The discharge was made as the proposal of the head of the Special Telecommunications Service. At the same time, the head of state signed the decree on discharging from the military two-star holder Major General Ioan Balure from the STS.
