Dacian Ciolos, former European Commissioner, is Romania's candidate for the position of Secretary General of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie.
The announcement was made on Monday by President Nicusor Dan, at the event organized on the occasion of the International Day of Francophonie.
This candidacy, said the head of state, is a ''constructive'' one, oriented towards the future and has the vocation to reunite.
The President showed that, for Romania, Francophonie is "a choice assumed for a long time" and is "a true added value that is also reflected from an economic point of view".
Furthermore, Nicusor Dan reiterated that Romania is "one of the main supporters of institutional Francophonie".
