Deposits of non-governmental resident clients have increased in December 2021 by 3.6% over the previous month, up to the level of 479.302 billion RON, as well as by 13.9% (5.3% in real terms) over December 2020, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Bank of Romania.
Deposits in RON by residents, with a share of 65% of total deposits made by non-governmental client deposits, have risen by 4.6% over November 2021, up to 311.439 billion RON, as well as by 13.5% (4.9% in real terms) over December 2020.
Deposits in RON by households have risen by 2.5% over the previous month, up to 165,023 billion RON, and recorded a 9% increase over December 2020 (0.7 in real terms).
Deposits in foreign currency made by residents, expressed in RON, representing 35% of the total volume of non-governmental client deposits, have increased by 1.8% over November 2021, reaching the level of 167.863 billion RON (expressed in euro, they rose by 1.8%, up to 33.924 billion euro). Compared to the month of December 2020, the indicator expressed in RON increased by 14.7% (12.9%, if the indicator is expressed in euro).
Deposits in foreign currency made by households, expressed in RON, have increased by 1.8% over November 2021, up to 118.845 billion RON, and by 1.8% when expressed in euro. Compared to the same period of 2020, the increase of this indicator expressed in RON was 12.9% (11.1% in case the indicator is expressed in euro).
