AGERPRES special correspondent Cristian Lupascu reports: The development of the transport infrastructure in Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will create a new opportunity for the economic development of the three states, the assistant to the U.S. Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O'Brien said on Monday in Chisinau, informs Agerpres.
The American official participated in the ministerial QUINT Meeting, held in Chisinau.
We know that when you invest in such an infrastructure, there are business opportunities, so this is just the beginning of a whole process of interconnecting these three countries, but also connecting them to roads and highways throughout Europe and around the globe, which will create a new stage of economic opportunities. Today we agreed on a work plan to we keep the new infrastructure active, to expand the capacity and there are concrete offers from the European Union and the U.S. to help build this capacity, in ways that create economic opportunities for the citizens of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, said O'Brien.
He also said that Russia's attacks on Ukraine were aimed at "devastating the region's economy".
The event in Chisinau was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development from the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Bolea, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure from Romania, Sorin Grindeanu, the Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure from Ukraine, Serhiy Derkach and the EU's General Director for Mobility and Transport, Magda Kopczynska.
