The creation of a registry to develop, identify and standardise the digital skills of Romanians is one of the milestones included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which is to be achieved, Florin Spataru, state adviser at the Prime Minister's Chancellery, said on Wednesday at the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest (DISB) 2025.
"The Romanian government pays special attention to cybersecurity and Romania's digital transformation. Today, on the government's agenda is a very important decision regarding the digital skills of Romanian citizens. It is a standard and a registry by means of which we develop, identify and standardise people's digital skills. We create this register to ensure that what we say as a government is also supported by the skills that will be developed in the future. This is also part of Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan, being one of the milestones to be met," said Spataru.
He added that the protection of critical infrastructures is essential in these "very troubled times."
"Cybersecurity is very important, but I would also draw attention to critical infrastructures, as they are defined now. We are going through very troubled times. We have gone through several crises, and now we have many debates about security of supply, cybersecurity, and critical infrastructure is a point of interest for all countries, especially for Romania. We are talking to the Ministry of Energy, because the energy infrastructure is essential to Romania. We wonder if the infrastructure alone is sufficient to define and ensure security of supply. In my opinion, it is not, because the entire value chain must be included in the critical infrastructure, ensuring that whenever something happens, there is maintenance, supply and all aspects are considered. So, there is a dynamic in this whole process, and together with the Romanian institutions and all the other institutions in Romania, we are analysing this. Knowing also that Romania hosts the European Cybersecurity Authority, it is very important for us to set an example, to have a model for other countries and to use the resources we have in Romania, with talented people, universities and innovation hubs," said Spataru .
