Diabetologist Prof. Dr. Anca Pantea Stoian has been selected as a member of the Global Council of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD).
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday, the mandate will run until December 31, 2026.
"Anca Pantea Stoian is one of the most respected Romanian specialists involved in international development projects in the field of diabetes. She is also the vice president of the Central European Diabetes Association (CEDA), an organisation that promotes collaboration and research in this field in Central Europe," reads the press release.
Aged 50, Anca Pantea Stoian teaches at the Faculty of Medicine at the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest.
In addition to her academic activity, she is the chairperson of the National Commission for Diabetes Mellitus, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases of the Ministry of Health, and throughout her career she has dedicated herself to projects aimed at developing collaboration between specialists, both Romanian and international, to improve the care of people with diabetes.
She is currently working as a primary diabetologist at the "Prof. Dr. N. C. Paulescu" National Institute of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases in Bucharest.
The European Association for the Study of Diabetes is one of the most important international organisations dedicated to promoting diabetes research and education.
