The President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker is the first European official who speaks in Romanian Parliament with respect about Romanians and our country, Chamber of Deputies' Speaker and national leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD, major at rule) on Thursday asserted in the plenary meeting of Parliament where President Juncker delivered a discourse.

"In my opinion, the President of the European Commission is the first European official who, in Romania's Parliament, speaks with respect about Romanians and Romania, and, because of this, Mr. President, you'll have in me and in Romania's Parliament, a strong, steadfast friend. (...) The Declaration of Rome of 25 March 2017 speaks about a single Union, with joint bodies and strong values, a community of peace, of liberty, of democracy, of the human rights and the rule of law, an economic force with levels unequaled of social protection and welfare. This is how EU must work, this should be the description we must have in view when the changes that are to be done in the functioning of the Union, will be decided. Withal, it is true that the Declaration of Rome also speaks of various paces and intensities, and I'm doing my job to tell you that this expression has been widely commented in Romania with emotion and even with much concern. I believe that the goal of the Union, as it has been seen by the founding fathers of this supranational structure, is to narrow gaps, to diminish differences so that, in a closer or less closer future, the Union to step in the same rhythm and with the same intensity," said Dragnea.

"It is essential that nobody is left behind, though, we must be an undivided, indivisible Union, this is the EU the Romanians want," concluded Dragnea.
