Designated Education and Research Minister Monica Anisie said on Monday she will not leave the National Liberal Party (PNL).
"I am still a member of the National Liberal Party. No one can dispute that. I accepted this mandate because I care about education and about what is happening in the system. I want the education system to look different. As I have said, I will not leave the National Liberal Party. I will not do that. I have been a member since the days of the Democratic Party and then the Democratic Liberal Party, since I was in the 12th grade. And now I am told I am a traitor? I would be careful with the word 'traitor', because if we look at history, others should answer for the betrayals they committed," Anisie said at the Palace of Parliament after being heard by the joint select committees.
She argued that PNL has become "a single-shareholder company".
"Let's look carefully at what is happening. Let's not live in a 'democrature'. The PNL must not become a single-shareholder company. At this moment, that's what it is. This is what the sham congress has shown. If my colleagues want to continue in such a system, that is their choice. But I am not leaving the National Liberal Party," she stated.
Anisie said she received a mandate from PNL Sector 2 to vote for the Vestea Government.
Monica Anisie received a favourable opinion on Monday from Parliament's select committees: 22 votes in favour, 18 against, and three abstentions. AUR MPs left the room before the vote.
On Sunday, the PNL Extraordinary Congress adopted a resolution providing that members who take part in forming a government with PSD will be excluded.
Parliament scheduled the plenary investiture vote for the Vestea Government for 21:30 on Monday.
