Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan stated on Friday, in Bistrita, that the number of those who have accessed the EPIDS platform to request vouchers for paying their electricity bill is currently approximately 600,000 people, under conditions in which initial estimates indicated approximately 2.1 million eligible consumption points.

"At the moment - the latest data I have is from a few days ago, five-six days -, there are over 600,000 people who have accessed this platform created by the Special Telecommunications Service and have benefited from those vouchers starting with the end of September. (...) At the moment, this program continues at least until March 31, 2026", stated Ivan.

Asked why the number of those who have used this support system is below estimates, the minister of energy admitted that he was curious to find out the same thing and that the possible explanations would be that there are many people who have left the country, that some consumers considered it unnecessary or that they found the platform registration system too complicated.

Bogdan Ivan says that the possibility of creating a mechanism through which vouchers would be deducted directly from bills is also being analyzed.

"We are now working and calculating how we can complete a mechanism, both from the market point of view and from the IT system point of view, in which we can establish another, higher ceiling, in which we can directly enter the bill with a certain tariff, which will be below the current tariff practiced in the market - somewhere at 1.1 lei, plus or minus, depending on the supply operator and the geographical region", the minister of energy said.

The electronic energy voucher is worth 50 lei per month. Single people with a net monthly income of up to 1,940 lei and families with a net monthly income per member of a maximum of 1,784 lei can benefit from this financial support.
