Energy Ministry: Unit 1 of Cernavoda nuclear power plant resynchronided to national grid

Unit 1 of the CNE Cernavoda nuclear-power plant was resynchronised to Romania's electricity grid on Sunday and on Monday it is scheduled to operate at nominal power, according to the Energy Ministry, told Agerpres.

"We are in permanent contact at the level of the Winter Energy Command with all those involved in solving the challenges that have arisen at the level of the national grid as a result of the extreme meteorological phenomena in the south-eastern parts of Romania. My thanks go to the intervention teams who did their duty in difficult conditions. Enel, Transelectrica and the other operators involved acted with professionalism and promptness. The national grid proved its ability to operate under correct conditions in extreme situations, with wind gusts that exceeded 100 km/h h. The problems that arose were local, not endangering the stability of the national grid. In particular, want to I thank the specialists of Nuclearelectrica for the resynchronisation of Unit 1 in a very short time."

Unit 1 of the nuclear-power plant was automatically disconnected from the national electricity grid in the evening of November 18, 2023, as a result of weather conditions that caused disturbances in the national energy grid.
