The European Organisation for Consumer Protection - InfoCons has worked together with the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest for the development of the Enkivers Digital Vault, which allows the secure storage of documents, ideas and visual concepts in the information age, inform Agerpres.
The Enkivers Digital Safe is said to be the first European project with global impact dedicated to raising awareness, educating, and informing the market about security and the protection of visual concepts and more.
It can secure and store original documents (identity papers, car property documents, house deeds, sale-purchase contracts, etc., birth certificates, graduation diplomas: baccalaureate, bachelor's, master's, etc.), medical records for you and your family, photographs, videos, recordings, texts, articles, courses, course materials, course models, etc., research and results thereof, artistic creations, ideas, graphic concepts, logos, etc.
"Enkivers represents a significant technological innovation in the field of intellectual property protection and valorisation in the digital age. The Enkivers platform aims to address contemporary challenges related to securing and managing digital content by offering an integrated solution that combines academic rigor with practical accessibility. The project is developed in partnership with the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest. The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest is Romania's leading research centre in the field of information and communication technology. The Institute manages the '.ro' domain, carries out research and innovation projects in digital transformation, cybersecurity, cloud, blockchain, and supercomputing, and its mission is to support the development of a knowledge-based economy and Romania's integration into the international research community," according to the official presentation.
The Enkivers platform stands out through the implementation of an advanced system for intellectual property protection, representing the first European initiative with global applicability in the field of securing visual concepts in the digital environment.
"Its technological architecture incorporates multiple layers of cybersecurity, implementing the fundamental concept of 'trusted timestamping' for authentication and temporal validation of digital files. The scope of applicability of the Enkivers platform covers a wide range of users, including individuals - content creators, artists, and independent professionals - as well as legal entities such as commercial organizations and public institutions. The platform facilitates the protection of digital assets in a robust cyber environment, offering technological and legal guarantees for the integrity and confidentiality of stored data. From a functionality perspective, the platform operates on the principle of a secure digital 'container,' implementing advanced encryption and authentication protocols. The user interface has been designed according to cognitive ergonomics principles, ensuring an optimal balance between accessibility and security. The system incorporates sophisticated cybersecurity mechanisms while maintaining an intuitive and efficient user experience."
The Enkivers platform is distinctly different from conventional 'cloud' storage solutions by implementing a complex 'personal digital safe' system. This innovative approach offers users multiple competitive advantages: legal protection through trusted timestamping mechanisms, a higher level of security and confidentiality, as well as authorised institutional support.
Financial accessibility and operational flexibility are complemented by an integrated educational component, facilitating the development of skills in intellectual property and digital security.
The multidisciplinary character of the Enkivers platform is manifested through the integration of expertise from diverse fields such as cybersecurity, law, education, and technology. This convergence of competencies ensures a holistic approach to protecting and managing intellectual property in the contemporary digital environment.
The price for an annual subscription for such a digital safe is around EUR 25-30 per year, according to Sorin Mierlea, CEO of InfoCons, said at the end of last year when the platform was launched.
"The prices per year will be somewhere around EUR 25-30, converted into the national currency of each country where it is found. An annual subscription is made, after that you can open more safes, if you want more quantity. I believe that each of us, in our capacity as citizens, individuals or legal entities, even public institutions, museums, who want to store certain images of certain works of art, with certain things that we want in a cybersecurity at the highest standard, from India or Norway, from the United States or Japan, today they have a simple, easy system, immediately accessible and within everyone's reach. (...) We did not have safes at this level with a high degree of security that would be managed under the auspices of an almost public authority, such as ICI, under the coordination of the Romanian state," Mierlea said at the time.
The revenues from the paid subscriptions are joint revenues of ICI and InfoCons, but most of them will go to ICI, because it deals with security, maintenance, servers and everything that means the proper functioning of this mechanism. Instead, InfoCons will use the amounts for project promotion, communication and information.
InfoCons was established in 2003, and currently carries out an uninterrupted activity, being a member of various organisations, advisory commissions of the authorities, working groups, partner in national and international programmes.
The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest is the main research centre in Romania in the field of information and communication technology.
