The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, ordered the convening of an emergency meeting, after learning directly from the mayors of Prahova and Dambovita that several localities were left without water following the works in Paltinu.

"Today (Saturday, ed.) I learned directly from the mayors of Prahova and Dâmboviţa that several localities were left without water as a result of the works at Paltinu, although both ESZ Prahova, ABA Buzau-Ialomiţa and the Hidroelectrica branch gave firm assurances to the Ministry of Environment that the works at the Paltinu reservoir will be carried out without affecting the population. The fact that tens of thousands of people were left without water represents not only a technical problem, but a serious lack of professionalism, unacceptable. I ordered the general director of ANAR (National Administration of Romanian Waters, ed.) to convene an emergency meeting with ABA, ESZ Prahova and Hidroelectrica, in order to immediately establish an action plan so that these situations can be avoided in the future. In At this moment, a meeting is taking place with public authorities, including the prefecture and local representatives. "Obviously, the flows will be lower during these works, but normally, access to water should not be stopped for days. In the following hours, the authorities gave assurances that we will also have the proposed technical solution, following this emergency meeting," announced Diana Buzoianu, in a post published on her Facebook page.

The Minister of the Environment stressed that "delays, concealment of information or lack of communication" will not be tolerated.

"People need drinking water, not justifications. I will also send the Control Body of the Ministry of Environment to verify how the situation was managed and to identify the people responsible for this situation. Just a few days ago, all the authorities under the Ministry of Environment, but also under the Ministry of Energy, gave assurances that they would not leave the community in that area without drinking water. Obviously, those who do not do their job properly must be held accountable. I will come back with information as soon as the technical solution begins to be implemented. The people of Prahova and Dambovita need water now, and our priority is that the supply be resumed as soon as possible. The work must be done, but it must be done professionally, without leaving tens of thousands of inhabitants without drinking water for several days," added Diana Buzoianu.
