Six people were affected by the explosion in an apartment in Buftea (close to Bucharest) one of whom is in cardiac-respiratory arrest, informs the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISUBIF), inform Agerpres.
Following the explosion, exterior and interior walls, windows and doors of the affected building were detached and present a risk of collapse.
"So far, there are six people involved - a person with burns transported to the hospital, a person in heart and respiratory arrest who is being resuscitated, a patient with skull trauma and a patient with minor burns. Also, two other people were evacuated without medical charges," says the Press Office of the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate.
Specialized search and rescue teams were formed to check the entire area, and the authorities ordered the evacuation of people from the building and the population within a 50-meter radius around the event site, as a prevention and safety measure.
"An emergency task force was formed at the Ministry of Health, coordinated by the Minister of Health, which includes the emergency hospitals - Bagdasar-Arseni Emergency Clinical Hospital, Bucharest Emergency Clinical Hospital (Floreasca), Bucharest University Emergency Hospital. We are in permanent coordination with Dr. Raed Arafat, the coordinator of the Department for Emergency Situations," the Ministry of Health informs.
According to ISUBIF, the building poses a risk of collapse at the level of the apartment where the explosion occurred.
