Romania's Office of Film and Cultural Investments operating under the authority of the Ministry of Culture will be allowed to design, develop and implement in the film industry, both individually and in collaboration with other organisations, according to a decision approved on Wednesday by the government.

The new office can affiliate with international cultural networks and international bodies in its field of activity and conclude partnerships with them. It is considering affiliation with the European Network of Film Commissions and the Association of Film Commissioners International.

"The European Film Commissions Network is a non-profit association that brings together 100 institutions from 32 European countries, with the object of managing programmes to attract investments in the audiovisual field and promoting audiovisual and cultural production destinations. The Association of Film Commissioners International was founded in 1975 and is the only global non-profit professional organisation representing members of film commissions from states, cities, regions and national provinces around the world. These changes are said to be able to improve the degree of drawing foreign investment to film production in Romania."
