Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare discussed in Washington the energy security of Romania and the region with Jarrod Agen, head of the National Energy Dominance Council at the White House - the American body that coordinates the US's strategic energy policies, according to a post published by Nazare on Facebook.
"Another important meeting in Washington these days was with Jarrod Agen, head of the National Energy Dominance Council at the White House - the American body that coordinates US strategic energy policies. We discussed energy cooperation between Romania and the United States, in particular the Vertical Gas Corridor project - a strategic initiative through which Romania can become a regional hub for the transport of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Central and Eastern Europe. This project means energy security, investments and jobs for Romania. I thank the American partners for the open dialogue and for the support given to Romania in the energy field. We will continue to work closely to accelerate this project and for Romania to strengthen its role as a regional leader in energy infrastructure," wrote Alexandru Nazare.
He also posted a message for Romania from Special Envoy for Global Partnerships Paolo Zampolli, recorded at his residence in Washington DC.
"You are our most important NATO ally and we have the biggest NATO initiatives together. You are located in an extremely important area, especially for any peace process that will be achieved. Our president has made peace. He has made peace in the Middle East. It is incredible. Now, soon, he will make peace between Ukraine and Russia. And then, you know, from the European side there will be this protection mechanism for Ukraine and its neighbours. So, thanks to this, Romania will have an essential role. In the field of energy, you have good energy and we like your type of energy," said Paolo Zampolli.
