PSD MP Florin Manole came up with clarifications on Monday after information surfaced in the public space regarding his travel by private plane to the Greek island of Mykonos in July, stating that he was part of an economic delegation, at the invitation of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which covered all related costs.
Florin Manole, former Minister of Labor, said that he participated ''to cover topics related to labor legislation'', thanks to the experience he acquired.
''The economic delegation on July 8 was organized by the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which also covered all related costs. The Chamber is self-financed, does not use public funds and has the right to organize its own events. I participated to cover topics related to labor legislation, thanks to the experience I acquired. The trip took place over the course of a single day. I consider it absolutely legitimate to respond positively to invitations from legally established professional or non-governmental organizations that promote the rights and interests of Romanian companies,'' Florin Manole told the press.
The PNL has asked the PSD to publicly explain the "luxury trip" to Mykonos of former Minister of Labor Petre-Florin Manole, along with the judge of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) Cristian Deliorga, Victor Ponta, other former ministers and businessmen.
"The PSD and the participants must explain the real purpose of the trip, why these expenses were incurred and based on what criteria the passengers were selected. Former PSD minister Petre-Florin Manole, who publicly laments the situation of teachers, doctors, pensioners and unemployed young people, must explain how this speech is in line with the trips on a private plane to Mykonos, nicknamed the 'island of the rich'. All participants, including Victor Ponta, the PSD's friend in Parliament, must provide clear explanations. The press estimates that the flight in the private plane could have cost approximately 50,000 euros. Information that later emerged shows that one of the trips was paid for by the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry", the PNL specified.
CCR judge Cristian Deliorga, former Prime Minister Victor Ponta, former PSD Minister of Labor Florin Manole, UDMR senator István-Loránt Antal, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as businessmen flew on a private plane to the Greek island of Mykonos in July, according to PressOne disclosures.
