The hospitality industry is facing one of the most challenging periods in recent years, marked by acute labor shortages, rapidly rising costs, and economic instability, with authorities sending messages that stigmatize a sector essential to the national economy, instead of offering solutions and support, maintain representatives of Federation of Hospitality Industry Employers in Romania (FPIOR), informs Agerpres.
"We cannot accept for HoReCa puto bet on the spot through campaigns that sow distrust between clients and entrepreneurs. Compliance with fiscal rules is mandatory, but it should be accompanied by education, support, and consultation not populist measures that undermine public trust. Real solutions can only be found through loyal collaboration between the state, industry, and consumers," said FPIOR vice president Corina Macri.
The hospitality employers' federation pointed out in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Monday that the National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF) has recently launched a campaign promising customers a free meal if they do not receive a fiscal receipt. Representing over 1,000 Romanian companies and 26,000 employees, FPIOR said it has not seen sales without fiscal receipts in the past 15 years and considers this approach superficial.
"We support compliance with the law and enforcement of fiscal rules. But turning customers into 'inspectors' and treating entrepreneurs as 'permanent suspects' is not a solution. It is a punitive approach that can create distrust and hostility where respect and cooperation should prevail,: added FPIOR vice president Catalin Mahu.
FPIOR executive president Calin Cozma also stressed that Romania is an educated country, and that revisiting an issue already resolved seems unjustified and outdated by 15-20 years.
In this context, FPTIOR will submit to the Government a series of concrete measures from entrepreneurs to help save the budget and issues a firm call for authorities to abandon confrontational rhetoric, urgently engage specialists with real experience, and adopt policies developed together with the Romanian business environment, "and not against it."
