People with severe and acute disabilities will be able to benefit from free interurban transport services under simplified conditions, after the Government adopted a draft decision initiated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity that amends and completes the Methodological Norms on the procedure for granting rights to free interurban transport to people with disabilities.

Thus, severely and severely disabled people will be able to benefit from free interurban transportation services, regardless of the county in which the travel tickets were printed.

Carriers will be able to present the tickets for settlement to the general directorate of social assistance and child protection in the county where the station where the trip starts is located, or, if there is no agreement between the carrier and the latter, to any other general directorate of social assistance and child protection in contractual relationship with the carrier, located on the route of the trip. The document also introduces sanctions for transport operators in case of refusal to pick up people with disabilities.

At the same time, according to Law no. 448/2006, people with severe or accentuated disabilities may opt, upon request, for free interurban transportation or for the granting of paper fuel vouchers, electronic vouchers or settlement for the car owned by them, their family, personal assistant, professional personal assistant or companion, for the expenses necessary for fueling and/or electric means of transport.
