Romanian tennis player Gabriela Ruse qualified, on Monday, for the round of 16 of the WTA 125 tournament in Angers (France), with total prizes of 100,000 euros, after defeating Turkish Ipek Oz, 6-4, 6-2.
Ruse (27 years old, 126 WTA) needed one hour and 23 minutes of playing to seal her victory, in her first meeting against Oz (25 years old, 226 WTA).
Gabriela Ruse, seed no. 8, won a cheque of 1,740 euros and 15 WTA points for reaching this far in the competition, and in the second round she will face the winner between Varvara Lepchenko (USA) and Anouk Koevermans (Netherlands).
Also on Monday, Patricia Tig (30 years old, 243 WTA) will meet Belgian Belinda Bencic (27 years old, 913 WTA) in the first round, after winning in the preliminary round against Frenchwoman Yasmine Mansouri (23 years old, 320 WTA), 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
