Independent presidential candidate Calin Georgescu believes that the war in Ukraine must be stopped urgently, and he calls for peace.
"The system's desire is to drag Romania into the war. I have only the strategy of peace, only the interest for the Romanian people to live in peace, to have stability and security in everything they do. I can guarantee (...) that if I am voted by the Romanian people, peace will be the first priority and not a single hair will move from the head of any Romanian citizen. We have no reason to get involved in a conflict that is not ours, but we can campaign for peace. (...) Behind any war are the bankers and the financial system. (...) In my view, the war in Ukraine must be stopped urgently. There is no other discussion, (...) by annihilating me they want to annihilate the Romanian people," Georgescu said on Realitatea Plus on Wednesday.
He emphasised that he identifies with the "thinking for peace" of US President Donald Trump.
Regarding a possible disbanding of political parties, Georgescu denied.
In his opinion, "lasting peace means having a strong, strong army".
Asked about the accusations of neo-legionarism, Georgescu replied, "I can only smile at such a thing, considering what I have done and the Romanian people have done. (...) Our young people are dying because of drugs, and they are saying that I am an extremist or a legionary." He added that "he was not and is not anti-Semitic".
The independent presidential candidate also said that he knows Aleksandr Dugin, the ideologue of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
