Gov't borrows RON 945 M off commercial banks on Monday

The Ministry of Finance (MF) on Monday borrowed almost RON 945 million off commercial banks in two issues of benchmark bonds, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

Thus, the Ministry borrowed RON 450 million through a issue of benchmark bonds with a residual maturity of 90 months and an average yield of 6.65% per annum. The nominal value of the issue was RON 500 million and the banks offered RON 475 million.

An additional auction is scheduled for Tuesday to borrow another RON 75 million at the yield set on Monday for the bonds.

Also, the MF borrowed RON 495.2 billion in an issue of bond certificates of a residual a maturity of 33 months and an average yield of 6.21% per annum.

The nominal value of the issue was RON 500 million, and the banks offered RON 555.2 million.

MF has planned for September 2024 to borrow RON 5 billion off commercial banks, to which RON 675 million can be added in additional sessions of non-competitive offers related to bond auctions.
