The leaders of the governing coalition met in a new meeting on Monday for discussions regarding the draft state budget for this year.

The meeting at the Victoria Palace is attended by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Sorin Grindeanu, chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Kelemen Hunor, chairman of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), Dominic Fritz, chairman of the Save Romania Union, Varujan Pambuccian, leader of the parliamentary group of national minorities, as well as ministers Alexandru Nazare, Catalin Predoiu, Cseke Attila and General Mayor of the Capital Ciprian Ciucu, agerpres reports.

Social Democratic Party First Vice-President Bogdan Ivan announced on Monday, after the meeting of the National Standing Bureau of the Social Democratic Party, that during the coalition meeting the Minister of Finance will present the structure of the 2026 state budget.

'During the course of today there will be a coalition meeting at which the Minister of Finance will present the structure of the budget to coalition members. Following this, an analysis will take place within the Social Democratic Party to see whether the elements we have requested from the outset to be included in the body of the budget are included or not, and after that there will be a decision, an internal analysis and a very clear decision from the Social Democratic Party as to whether we will vote for the 2026 state budget or not,' Ivan said.

During the meeting, a decision is expected to be taken regarding the amounts and shares allocated from certain state budget revenues for balancing local budgets, political sources said.

Discussions will also be held regarding the funds allocated to national investment programmes, according to the same sources.

Another topic of discussion concerns the possibilities for securing funding for the social solidarity package proposed by the Social Democratic Party.
