I think we need to act in two directions when it comes to the human resource in the health care system. In addition to increasing the income of this category, professional comfort conditions must be ensured to make the medical activity efficient, and the latter is essential to maintain in the country the professionals of the system, the Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rafila said Thursday in Istanbul, at the high level reunion on health and migration in the European Region of the World Health Organisation.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Health, Rafila participated in the first panel of the conference and addressed the need for a common health human resources strategy, as universal access to health services will not be possible if there are no professionals, including in less developed areas.
"Over 15,000 doctors emigrated to other countries after Romania's accession to the European Union. In addition, other professionals from the health system emigrated. I think we need to act in two directions when it comes to the human resource in the health care system. In addition to increasing the income of this category, professional comfort conditions must be ensured to make the medical activity efficient, and the latter is essential to maintain in the country the professionals of the system," the Health Minister said.
According to the source, in the second part of the panel, Alexandru Rafila presented the measures the Romanian Government has taken for the unhindered access to health services of refugees from Ukraine and the efforts the Ministry of Health is making to control tuberculosis, HIV and vaccine-preventable diseases among them.
At the same time, the minister reaffirmed Romania's solidarity with the victims of the war in this country.
"The Romanian Government is directly involved in providing aid to the Ukrainian authorities and citizens and has made available the platform "Ukraine - Together we help more" through which the humanitarian assistance offers are centralized and quickly directed to the beneficiaries. Ukrainian citizens who arrive in Romania have the same rights to access medical services as do Romanian citizens," the source said.
Romania has also made available 3,300 beds that can receive injured from Ukraine in hospitals in all counties of the country.
Also, all Ukrainian citizens arriving in Romania will benefit from health assessment, complete vaccination services and dental care.
