Checks on the water network in Prahova County are continuing for the safety of citizens, Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete said on Sunday.

'The Prahova Public Health Directorate has completed the microbiological analyses carried out at the ESZ Voila treatment plant before the water was introduced into the distribution system operated by Hidro Prahova. The results comply with OG no. 7/2023 and HG no. 971/2024, which confirms that the water treated at the plant is potable. The tests covered mandatory microbiological parameters: coliform bacteria, E. coli, intestinal enterococci, colony count at 22°C and 37°C, as well as Clostridium perfringens. The analyses were carried out in accordance with SR EN ISO 9308-1, the standard regulating procedures and reading intervals for the samples. Under the methodology, water is declared potable only if all indicators fall within legal limits. DSP Prahova confirms that the water leaving the Voila plant meets the conditions for human consumption,' the minister wrote on Facebook.

He announced that the 'decisive stage' would follow, namely analyses of the distribution network.

'The network has undergone emptying, refilling, washing, chlorination and the repair of faults and the checks can be validated only after the full 72-hour cycle of microbiological analysis,' the minister added.

Alexandru Rogobete called on representatives of DSP Prahova and the State Sanitary Inspection not to give in to any pressure, regardless of its source.

'As minister of Health, I have a clear message for the people of Prahova: they can trust that we will never declare the water potable until the final analyses confirm its safety unequivocally. I will remain firm and will not allow any deviation from standards or from quality. Public safety is and remains my absolute priority. I have asked all colleagues in DSP Prahova and the State Sanitary Inspection not to yield to any pressure, no matter where it comes from,' Rogobete said.

He said that he would not allow any deviation from standards and that public safety remains his 'absolute' priority.

'People's health cannot cover or wash away' the administrative incompetence of some,' Minister Alexandru Rogobete added.
