Representatives of the Iasi Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police (ITPF) said on Wednesday morning that delays were being reported at border control due to technical problems affecting the databases of the authorities in the Republic of Moldova.

"Travellers intending to cross the border this morning should expect delays at border control. The databases of the authorities in the Republic of Moldova have been out of service since 06:30 due to technical problems. Checks are currently being carried out manually. Border control has resumed and vehicles have started crossing. Traffic is being processed normally on the Romanian side for those leaving Romania for the Republic of Moldova, but vehicles are waiting on Moldovan territory. At Albita and Galati, where coordinated border checks are carried out on Romanian territory, vehicles are waiting for clearance by the Moldovan authorities until the technical problems have been fully resolved," the ITPF said in a press release.

The authorities are advising drivers and passengers to check border traffic monitoring applications for updates.
