The Romanian Cultural Institute Tel Aviv is organising, on Wednesday from 6:00 pm, a literary evening dedicated to writer and poet Riri Manor, to mark National Culture Day.

According to a press release from ICR Tel Aviv sent to AGERPRES on Monday, the author will speak about her literary journey and the experience of a creator who achieved recognition later in life, after a long career in top-level medicine, and will read from her most recent writings, which were also presented recently in Bucharest.

The evening's programme, hosted at the ICR Tel Aviv headquarters, will be complemented by a dialogue with Dan Romascanu, focusing on narrative perspectives, the relationship between memory and writing, and the place of Riri Manor's work within the Romanian-Israeli literary context, as well as with Dina Azriel, who will analyse the poetic structure and stylistic sensitivity of her work.

The discussions will be followed by a dialogue session with the audience, aimed at encouraging the exchange of ideas, interpretations and personal reflections on identity and the act of creation, the release added.

According to the ICR, the event is among the central moments of Romania's public and cultural diplomacy calendar for 2026.

Riri Sylvia Manor, a Romanian-language writer and poet, is the recipient of numerous literary awards in both Romania and Israel. Her work is valued for its memorial force, poetic rigour and ability to transform personal experiences into literature of great subtlety. Her voice asserts itself in a fertile intercultural space, bringing to the fore themes such as memory, identity, persecution, exile, belonging and self-reinvention.

The series of events organised by the ICR Tel Aviv to mark National Culture Day will also include a chamber music concert highlighting Romania's vocal and instrumental heritage and its dialogue with Israeli cultural space. The concert will take place on 31 January at the Tel Aviv Conservatory.
