Industrial production prices down 3.3pct in October

Industrial production prices overall (domestic market and external market) decreased 3.3% in October 2024, compared to October 2023, and 1% compared to the previous month, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Tuesday.

According to the quoted source, on the domestic market, the industrial production price index recorded a decrease of 1.5% in October compared to September 2024, and a decrease of 5.09% compared to the same month last year.

Regarding the external market, in October compared to September, industrial production prices were 0.27% higher, and compared to the same month of the previous year, there was an advance of 1.52%.

On major industrial sectors, in October 2024, compared to October 2023, increases in industrial production prices were recorded in: capital goods industry (+4.75%), consumer goods industry (+4.14%), durable goods industry (+0.84%), and intermediate goods industry (+0.17%). The energy industry recorded a decrease of 14.03%.

Based on the reference period, INS data show that, by activity sections, prices increased in water distribution, sanitation, waste management, decontamination activities (+12.71%) and in the manufacturing industry (+1.01%). In contrast, there were decreases in the extractive industry (-7.53%) and in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water, and air conditioning (-13.64%).
