INS: Industrial turnover falls 16.3% in January compared with December 2025

Turnover in industry overall (domestic and foreign markets) fell in January 2026, in nominal terms, both compared with December 2025, by 16.3 percent, and compared with January 2025, by 4.3 percent, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data published on Wednesday.

According to the INS, industrial turnover in nominal terms in January 2026, compared with the previous month, fell overall by 16.3 percent, due to declines in the extractive industry (-19.0 percent) and the manufacturing industry (-16.2 percent).

By major industrial groups, declines were recorded in: the capital goods industry (-23.4 percent), the consumer goods industry (-21.6 percent), the intermediate goods industry (-9.4 percent) and the energy industry (-3.4 percent). The durable goods industry rose by 6.0 percent.

Moreover, industrial turnover dropped, in nominal terms, in January 2026 compared with the same month of the previous year, overall by 4.3 percent, following the declines recorded in the extractive industry (-12.8 percent) and the manufacturing industry (-4.0 percent).

By major industrial groups, decreases were recorded in the energy industry (-10.6 percent), the intermediate goods industry (-7.7 percent), the consumer goods industry (-4.7 percent) and the durable goods industry (-3.4 percent). The capital goods industry increased by 0.8 percent.
