The U.S. is Romania's main strategic partner and a reliable ally, and the two countries will continue to work together in the same "consolidated" manner to address priorities on the bilateral agenda, Interior Minister Catalin Predoiu said on Friday during a meeting with U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Michael Dickerson.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, Predoiu expressed Romania's intention to further develop the existing cooperation potential by identifying new opportunities in the field of home affairs.
"The discussions also underlined the shared interest and commitment to strengthening the Strategic Partnership, with a focus on security and the need for joint efforts to respond effectively to challenges arising from the current geopolitical context," the Ministry said.
Predoiu and Dickerson described cooperation between the Romanian Interior Ministry and U.S. authorities as "excellent", and reaffirmed their commitment to continue and deepen it at both strategic and technical levels through permanent contacts and open dialogue.
"The importance of continuing joint activities, especially in combating cross-border organised crime in all its forms, was emphasised. Border security, the fight against illegal migration and cybercrime remain priority topics for authorities in Washington and Bucharest," the Ministry added. A
