The structures of the Romanian Police combating organised crime have carried out 90 operations over the past two weeks, seizing high-risk and very high-risk drugs, weapons and amounts of money, Internal Affairs Minister Catalin Predoiu said, according to a Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) release.
"I would like to highlight two major captures: over 40 kilograms of cannabis in Dambovita and another 15 kilograms found in Cluj-Napoca, during two undercover interventions. Operations were also conducted in the area of economic crime, including one targeting money laundering in a case involving losses of over 4 million euros and more than 1.5 billion lei. Another significant case is in Ialomita, where three individuals are under investigation for nearly 2,000 fraudulent pawnbroking contracts, resulting in a damage exceeding 3 million lei,' Predoiu said.
He also showed that 36 wanted individuals have been brought back to the country, while in the area of criminal investigations a number of 17 search warrants were executed in a case concerning the illegal issuance of identity documents with fictitious addresses, targeting public institutions and individuals involved in the scheme.
"I congratulate the policemen and structures who took part in these operations! The Romanian Police will continue the operations to combat serious and organised crime, drugs, economic offences or violent acts," Predoiu added.
