Ioana Madalina Miron wins gold, bronze medals at World Junior Weightlifting Championships

The Romanian weightlifter Ioana Madalina Miron (CSA Steaua) won a gold and a bronze medal at 45 kg, on Thursday, at the World Junior Weightlifting Championships in Leon (Spain), according to the Facebook page of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation.

Miron won the gold in clean and jerk, with 88 kg, as much as the Filipina Angeline Colonia, the silver medalist. The Romanian got the bronze overall, with 154 kg, after she was only sixth in the snatch, with 66 kg, missing the last attempt, at 69 kg.

In the final overall ranking, Colonia took the first place, with 162 kg, in second place was the Thai Khemika Kamnoedsri, with 160 kg.

Romania will be participating with a team of seven weightlifters, three women and four men, in the Under-20 World Junior Weightlifting Championships, which will take place between September 19-27 in the Spanish town of Leon.

The president of the Romanian Weightlifting Federation, Alexandru Padure, declared on Tuesday for AGERPRES that the objective is to rank 4-6 in total.

Romania will also be represented by Estefania Venusa Georgana Dobre (55 kg category), Anca Georgiana Grosu (64 kg), Tiberiu Ionut Donose (73 kg), Mihaita Constantin Tanasoiu (81 kg), Nicu Alexandru VIlcu (89 kg), Darius Stefan Tataru (96 kg).
