The mayor of the City of Iasi, Mihai Chirica, stated that he received, on Monday, the visit of the Ambassador of Japan to Romania, Hiroshi Ueda, with whom he agreed to have a meeting, together with representatives of some Japanese companies interested in investing in the area.
According to a press release of the Iasi City Hall, Hiroshi Ueda paid his first visit in Iasi together with Ketaro Morita, economic adviser with the Japanese embassy.
The two officials identified several domains with regards to economic cooperation, according to the mentioned release, Agerpres.ro informs.
"I launched the invitation to strengthen economic cooperation relations, identifying several domains, such as the auto industries, transports, electronics, medical services, food industry, alternative energy or waste recycling. In context, we convened to organize at the headquarters of the embassy a meeting with representatives of the city of Iasi with Japanese companies interested in investing in the region," stated Mayor Mihai Chirica.
Ambassador Hiroshi Ueda stated he was very impressed by the beauty and history of Iasi.
"I recalled the events and projects organized together with Japanese institutions and organizations, among them counting the establishment of the Japanese area of the Botanical Garden, the Japanese calligraphy courses for children, the exhibition of Japanese stamps hosted by the City Museum, the activity over 10 years of ballerinas of Japanese origin in the Iasi ballet corps and the numerous academic exchanges, especially on topics regarding advanced technologies for extracting natural resources or earthquake management," also said Mayor Chirica.
