Justice Minister Tudorel Toader declared on Monday that if requested, the Ministry of Justice will contribute to forming an official point of view, that will be sent to the Venice Commission.
Tudorel Toader was asked by journalists on Monday, if the recommendations in the Venice Commission's report will be taken into consideration.
"Please accept the fact that, I, myself, know the power of the Venice Commission's recommendations, expressed in an opinion, be they intermediary. It has also been stated in the public space, that Romania will formulate an official point of view that it will send to the Venice Commission, before the final opinion becomes definitive. If the Ministry of Justice will be requested to complete a viewpoint on Romania's behalf, we will obviously contribute as well. As a result, until that moment, and this is something I keep saying, if one or more politicians have expressed an opinion, I, as Minister of Justice, am not the one who is supposed to comment on others' comments," said Toader at the Justice Ministry headquarters.
