The Save Romania Union (USR) candidate for the presidential elections, Elena Lasconi, said on Wednesday that the talks between Social Democratic Party (PSD), National Liberal Party (PNL), Save Romania Union (USR), Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) and representatives of national minorities in Parliament were aimed at achieving a pro-European democratic majority and that they are not discussing about positions.

"We will make a pro-European democratic majority and also a democratic, pro-European government. We are not discussing positions. We are not discussing anything. We are in a crucial situation for Romania and now we all have to put our shoulders to the wheel to win these elections," Lasconi told Digi 24.

She added that a joint election campaign team has been formed.

Asked if it is not strange to sit at the same table with Social Democrat leader Marcel Ciolacu and to cooperate with PSD, Elena Lasconi said that this is a moment when there is no room for pride.

She also spoke about Marcel Ciolacu's statement on supporting her candidacy.

"A simple declaration is not enough because elections are won if you go on the field and I would ask the mayors PSD, PNL, UDMR, whatever colour they are at the moment, to think that they can lose all the projects on European funds. People should think that on the street where a sewerage project started, that project, that sewerage extension or an energy efficiency of the blocks or hospitals or school facilities might stop. It is extremely important to realize the seriousness of the moment, and mayors should talk to the people in the community," said Elena Lasconi.

She thanked Dorin Cioaba - the self-styled king of Roma everywhere and pastor - for his support. Lasconi said she had held talks with the President of the Republic of Moldova and the President of Georgia.

The USR candidate also commented on the information about the people who are around his opponent, Calin Georgescu, stressing the danger of going backwards, to the thirties.
