The event dedicated to the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations includes a guided tour of the China Hall in the Oriental Art Gallery, followed by a lecture and a live Guqin musical demonstration by renowned Chinese artists Wang Peng and Liu Xiaogang.
The event is organized in partnership with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Romania.
Access will be in the order of registration, through prior booking at [email protected] and based on the entrance ticket to the Oriental Art Gallery.
Listed by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the Guqin is a seven-stringed zither dating back over 3,000 years. Once considered a refined preoccupation of antique Chinese scholars, alongside calligraphy, painting and the game of Go, the Guqin remains a powerful symbol of Chinese philosophy and aesthetics.
Wang Peng, a renowned Guqin performer, luthier and composer, is appreciated for his precise and refined technique, his music emphasizing meditative introspection and emotional impact.
Liu Xiaogang combines the Guqin, bamboo flute, improvisation and visual art in a unique and trans-cultural expression. He has performed at prestigious international festivals on five continents and collaborated with artists from all over the world on diverse musical and multimedia projects.
