Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu met on Wednesday at the Victoria Palace of Government with the president of FC Barcelona football club, Joan Laporta, context in which the former expressed his appreciation for the fact that "a legendary sports brand has chosen to open its doors to our young Romanians".
"Today I had the pleasure to exchange a few impressions with the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, who came to Romania to inaugurate a Football Academy. It is incredible that a legendary sports brand has chosen to open its doors to our young Romanians. I told president Laporta that I would like the future Romanian footballer who will play at the Camp Nou in Barcelona to come from this academy. Just as Hagi and Gica Popescu did in the '90s, when I, like all of Romania, were proud of that. And yes, Lamine Yamal is a sensational player, but "we" are also counting on Arda Guler," Marcel Ciolacu said in a Facebook post.
During the meeting, the Romanian prime minister received a FC Barcelona jersey with his name inscribed on the back from Joan Laporta.
