The 17th edition of Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest, one of the highlights of the autumn film season, will take place in Bucharest from 23 October to 1 November.
According to a press release the organisers sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, screenings will be held at Cinema Elvire Popesco, Cinema Muzeul Taranului Roman, the Auditorium Hall of the National Museum of Art of Romania and Apollo 111.
This year's edition of Les Films de Cannes will also travel to several cities across the country: Timisoara - at Cinema Studio and Cinema Timis, from 22 to 25 October; Arad - at Cinema Arta, from 28 to 31 October; and Oradea - at Cinema Palace, from 29 October to 1 November. On 29 October, the Crisurilor Country Museum will organise a special screening of "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days," directed by Cristian Mungiu. The festival tour will conclude in Iasi, where film lovers are invited to Cinema Ateneu from 6 to 8 November.
The festival programme includes "Fjord," written and directed by Cristian Mungiu, this year's Palme d'Or winner; "Minotaur," directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev, winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes and France's submission for the Academy Awards; "The Dreamed Adventure," by German filmmaker Valeska Grisebach; "A Man of His Time," directed by Emmanuel Marre, who won the Best Screenplay award at Cannes; "La Bola Negra," directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, winners of the Best Director award, jointly with "Fatherland," directed by Pawel Pawlikowski; "Soudain," directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi; "Coward," directed by Lukas Dhont; and "La Gradiva," the feature debut of Marine Atlan, co-written with Anne Brouillet.
The full programme of the 2026 edition of Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest, as well as information about films, events and guests, will soon be available on the festival's official website, filmedefestival.ro, and on its Facebook and Instagram pages.
Tickets will go on sale through the Eventbook network in the first half of October. Tickets for the national premiere of "Fjord" will go on sale on 1 October.
The Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest festival was founded in 2010 by Cristian Mungiu with the support of Thierry Fremaux, general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, and is organised by Cinemascop Association and Voodoo Films.
