The Vice-President of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) of the European Parliament, Daniel Buda, announced on Saturday, at the 23rd edition of the Bull Parade in Sângeorgiu de Mure?, that he has submitted an amendment to the regulation for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which is due to be voted on next week in the plenary session of the European Parliament, through which he requested the allocation of European funds for the purchase of animals for reproduction.
"I would like to inform you that I have submitted an amendment to the regulation for the Common Agricultural Policy, in the sense that breeding animals can be purchased with European money, so that you have the opportunity to increase the genetic potential you have on your farm. If God helps us, next week we will vote and from this year, Minister Barbu, Minister Pintea are considering this issue, so that we can increase the genetic value on your farms, in order to obtain adequate production", declared Daniel Buda, in front of the farmers present at the Bull Parade at Semtest BVN Mures, according AGERPRES.
The PNL/PPE MEP urged farmers to invest in genetics, because only in this way can they achieve performance.
"We will not be able to perform without genetics and here we have a starting point, in fact a foundation in what this issue means. In the EP, I want to assure you of one thing: that we will continue to have money for the agricultural sector, for animal husbandry, because we can live this life without many things, but we cannot live without food and you are the ones who provide food every day. And I want to assure you that at the level of the European Parliament, at the Ministry of Agriculture, we are with you. May God give you health so that you can give us our daily bread," said the MEP.
Daniel Buda also showed that the 2025 Bull Parade remains a landmark event for farmers and cattle breeders in Romania.
"I congratulate the organizers, Semtest BVN Mureş, because they manage, year after year, to bring together the remarkable results of genetic improvement programs and the latest technologies dedicated to farmers. I was happy to meet here animal breeders, from large farms to smaller households, all animated by the same desire: to invest in genetics and take Romanian animal husbandry to a higher level of performance. It is a clear signal that without genetics there is no performance, and without performance we cannot talk about competitiveness," Daniel Buda also said.
In a Facebook post, Daniel Buda showed that farmers present at the Bull Parade in Sangeorgiu de Mures expressed their concerns regarding the EU-Mercosur agreement and beef imports that risk affecting the European market.
"I sent them a firm message: this agreement cannot be accepted without real guarantees for our farmers. Moreover, I assured them of my full support. In their support, I submitted an amendment that will be voted on next week in the plenary of the European Parliament, through which I request the allocation of funds from the CAP for the acquisition of animals of high genetic value. A post-2027 European budget that allocates correct resources for animal husbandry and Romanian agriculture is not a whim, but a necessity. Only in this way can we ensure food security, the competitiveness of our farmers and the future of the Romanian village", mentioned MEP Daniel Buda.A
