The exhibition "Reflections on the Revolution: 35 Years of History," featuring images from the archive of the AGERPRES National News Agency, will be inaugurated at the Metropolitan Library of Bucharest on Thursday.
According to a press release, the Municipality of Bucharest Hall, through the Metropolitan Library, is organising the opening of the exhibition "Reflections on the Revolution: 35 Years of History," an event dedicated to commemorating and reflecting on the crucial events that marked the year 1989. The exhibition is organised in partnership with AGERPRES and the National Council for the Study of Securitate Archives (CNSAS), and the opening will take place on Thursday, starting at 11:00, at the headquarters of the "Mihail Sadoveanu" Metropolitan Library of Bucharest.
The exhibition will take place both outdoors, on the fence of the Metropolitan Library of Bucharest (BMB), and indoors, offering the public a detailed and profound perspective on the Romanian Revolution and the subsequent democratic transformations. It brings together two essential components: archive images from AGERPRES collections that capture key moments of the Revolution and its social impact on Romanian society, and unique materials from the CNSAS archives documenting the fall of the Iron Curtain and the defining moments of the 1989 Revolution through documents.
"The presence of those interested in our recent history at this event represents valuable support for the cultural and historical efforts of the Metropolitan Library of Bucharest, reaffirming our joint commitment to preserving the collective memory and promoting democratic values," said BMB Director General Ramona Ioana Mezei, as quoted in the release.
Public access is free, and the exhibition will remain open until February 12, 2025.
