The Minister of National Defence, Vasile Dincu, received on Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence, the visit of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Romania, Andrew Noble, with whom he spoke about regional security challenges.
According to a release from the Ministry of Defence, the Minister of Defence reiterated "the concern about the consolidation of Russia's military presence in the vicinity of the Alliance".
At the same time, it emphasized the position of the Romanian side on the need to strengthen NATO's deterrent and defence stance in a coherent and comprehensive manner on the entire Eastern flank, including the Black Sea.
Vasile Dincu appreciated the support of the British partner for consolidating the allied position in the Black Sea region, by participating in reinforced air police missions, the constant presence of military ships in the Black Sea, as well as by participating in military exercises or NATO structures in Romania.
The meeting was also a good opportunity to address practical cooperation issues, with a view to continuing the bilateral projects envisaged for the current year. The exchange of views also included other topics on the Allied agenda, ahead of the NATO Summit in Madrid in June, the source said, Agerpres informs.
